Chest Pain With Tightness In The Throat. No Stomach Pain, No Sign Of Indigestion Or Diarrhea. Has Had Chinese Food Outside. Reason For Chest Pain?

Dear Doctor,
Had some chest pain (quite near surface luckily) after eating some chinese dumplings, it has subsided now, still a bit of 'tightness' down the throat. No stomach pain, no sign of indgestion or diarrhea. Am 63 and genrally very healthy, never smoked and I rarely drink alcohol or coffee. Is chest pain a common result of contaminated food?

Hi there ~

I understand your concerns. Chest pain and tightness in the throat can be a sign of cardiac ischemia. I also think that you need to see a cardiologist immediately. I believe that your alcohol and coffee usage is very less, and that you have other risk factors that can be determined by visiting with a doctor, who can run the required tests.

I hope this helps. Take care of yourself and have a lovely day!
