General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

It is not a normal pain and you should take him to the doctor. Such pain can be a symptom of inguinal hernia, urinary tract infection, testis infection or epidydymis.
Hernia usually gives pain while coughing or lifting. Lump in the groin can be present. Urinary tract infection gives burning while urinating and frequent urinating.

He should have urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound and testis ultrasound.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
