Child Has Rash On Tip Of Penis. Caused By Wet Bathing Suit?

My 12 yr old son has a rash on the tip of his penis. He was in CA visiting his grandparents for two weeks and said it started getting sore a few days ago, but he just noticed the rash yesterday. He was at the beach in CA. I put desitin on it last night and he said it felt better, but today we were at a pool party and he said it's worse now. Is it just from the wet bathing suit or could it be something worse?

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

It is very difficult to say whether the rash on the tip of penis is an infection or an allergic reaction or some insect bite. I suggest that you get him examined by a health care provider so that the cause can be determined and managed accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.
