Child Has Throat Infection, Prescribed With Calpol, Floradt, Mohkindw. Are The Medicines Sufficient?
Hello Doctor, My daughter Kavinayaa is 2.6 years old, since last Tuesday she is suffering from fever , cold and cough . We normally feed P125 and Piriton whenever she suffering from cold, cough and fever. But still she s having the problem, so we took her into doctor and he given CALPOL 250, FLORADT, MOHKINDW(spelling is not correct) as he said she was suffering from Throat infection. Could you please let me know the above tablet is enough or it should be changed.
I am Dr Sriram Nathan an ENT surgeon and I will try to help you out with your problem.
I see that the doctor has prescribed you with paracetamol syrup or calpol and the mohkind will most probably be an antibiotic syrup which is sufficient for the time being.
Just make sure that she also has an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine or cetrizine or chlorpheniramine maleate (look into the chemical constituent of the syrups). If not you may ask your doctor to add these too.
complete the course as given by the doctor and I am sure your daughter will get better.
Give only warm water and fluids and avoid head bath and also try steam inhalation
hope she gets well soon
regards
Dr Sriram nathan
