Child Has Tubes In Ear. Ears Are Draining. Found Thick White Stuff. Ears Drained Or Clogged?
My child has tubes in his ear for about a year now. His ears are CONSTANTLY still draining at least twice a month. I noticed the last two months though the draining has stopped but tonight he kept making put my finger on his ears and rub it. I tried looking in his ears with a flashlight and I seen thick white stuff. I cannot see the tubes this time. Are his ears going to drain or are they clogged?
hello
As you are aware that ear tubes are kept to drain the middle ear fluid.
But after 1 yr. mostly the tubes get extruded by themself.
If the ears are draining then there must be perforation in ear drum or the tubes are still there.
the tubes are there or not can only be confirmed when the ears are checked by otoscope or under microscope by ENT specialist.
If the tubes are there it is time to go to your ENT specialist and get the tubes removed.
As now they (tubes) are not allowing to heal the drum.
If the tubes are not there then there must be perforation in the drum and now you need to take antibiotics and decongestant syp. or tablets and even nasal decongestants to get rid of infection and so the healing process is made faster.
one most important thing is that you must prevent water to enter your childs ear.
