Child Having Headache, Fever, Vomitting, Swollen Lymph Notes, Elevated White Blood Count. What To Do?
My son has had a headache, fever, vomitting, swollen lymph notes, elevated white blood count for 4 days now, finally got him admitted after two ER trips and two doc trips. Morphine isn't seemingly helping much and symptoms seems to be getting worse. He had a spinal tap for meningitis wich came back negative. Do u have any answers or suggestions, and have you ever seen or heard of this before.
Based on details your son seems to be suffering from viral fever with secondary bacterial infection.Since CSF study is negative which rules out meningitis, you need not worry.
He should improve with short course of antibiotics, antipyretics and fluids. Hope that CT scan brain has been done before doing spinal tap.
