Hi,
I think the docter must have incidently found a heart murmur in your child and he just wants to rule out any congenital heart anomaly in the child. This is non invasive test to look at the heart structure and dynamics of blood flow just like an Ultrasonography. It can be done anytime in the life after birth.Since the docter has advised go ahead and get it done it will do no harm but will rule out the doubt in the mind of the docter.
Bye
