Child Recovering From Tympanoplasty. Ciprodex For Blocked Canal, Slowly Working. Normal Post Operation?
I have a question about a child recovering from a tympanoplasty . Our ent has advised 4 drops of ciprodex twice a day in the affected ear because the canal is blocked with dry blood . The ear drops just sit on top of the blockage like a tiny pool of liquid as it slowly tries to work through. We are 5 days post op. is this normal?
I have gone through your query regarding blocked of ear canal by dry blood. Since only 5 days are passed only so don't worry about blood crest in the canal this is a normal finding post operated cases. The ear canal is blocked not only by dried blood but it also have pieces of AB GEL which are put over newly formed ear drum.
Actualy there is no need of putting any thing to operated ear without concent of your surgeon. this dried blood and gel foam all will come out in about 10 to 15 days, or it can be removed gentaly by your surgeon in your post operative visits.
Regards.
