Child Took More Dose Of Prescribed Amoxicillin Accidently, Gave Water. What Are The Possible Risks/side Effects?

My 6 year old son was prescribed amoxicillin 400mg/5ml concentration. His dose is 1 1/2 tsp BID. His 11 year old brother has the same concentration and takes 2 tsp BID. My 6 year old (weighs 50lbs) and took his bedtime dose and his brothers dose accidentally. I have him drinking lots of water. Is there anything else I should do? What are the possible risks/side effects?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello dear
thanks for your query at HCM
amoxicillin side effects are following hypersensitivity, diarrhea, agitation, anxiety, dizziness, headache, nausea, , behavioral changes
serious adverse effects are steven johnson syndrome, exfoliative dermatitis, hepatitis, anaphylaxsis, blood disorders, seizures, and colitis .
amoxicillin causes adverse effects if dose taken is above 250 milligram per kilogram body weight.
your child did not appear to be have taken that much amount of dose.
there is no need to gastric emptying if dose is less than that.
watch for signs mentioned above report to doctor if any problem
regards
