Child With A Painful Lump On The Neck. Had A Throat Infection. Are These Related?

Hello, my 5 yr old boy had a painful lump show up on the right side of his neck. It is lower, close to the base of the neck. It is about the size of a large cherry to a small plum. The skin is reddish and warm to the touch. He did just get over a throat infection, we did however not go to the dr. Or give any antibiotics. Could this be related??

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,
Yes both of these could be related.
The swelling most probably is enlarged lymph node.
The lymph nodes are drainage site of infection from throat.lymph nodes tries to protect frominfection by catching them and tries to kill them ,during this process they enlarge and get congested.
You need to take antibiotic.
Consult an ent specialist.
