Child With Molluscum Contagiosum On Torso Spreading To Arms, Legs. What Treatment Is Advisable?
I am a desperate mom who s 4 year old daughter has had mulluscum contagiosum for a month and a half. I have tried everything I can think of and HATE that the doctors tell me to just wait it out. She is at the point where its spreading down her arms, and legs and its already covering her torso. Her daycare doesn t want her to come because the backs of her legs touch the toilet seat when she s using the bathroom. I can t afford to take months, possibly YEARS off of work because daycare won t let her come. HELP!!! I m ready to try anything. I also have a 10 month old baby girl who I am trying to prevent from getting this virus. Doctors/dermatologists aren t helping...this is ridiculous!

Hi molluscum contagiosum is a viral infection caused by pox virus .it presents of clear vesicles with molluscum body inside .if not treated it multiples and spreads all over body.in children they are usually present on face .torso and arms etc.multiple gaint molluscum lesions on the gential area can be feature of HIV disease.
Main aim of treatment is removal of molluscum body.various treatment modalites are extirpation.koh application.salactin paint.imiquimod cream.and electro cautery.co2 and tca chemical cautery etc.in children best is koh application in adults best is extirpation

In some children molluscum contagiosum can resolve on its own. In your case I don't see any reason for waiting. If you convey the reasons stated above to the dermatologist he might oblige. There are a lot of modalities of treatment. The options are molluscum extraction using molluscum curette, Cryotherapy, Electrocautery, local application of 10 % potassium hydroxide using a tooth pick twice a day, local application of salicylic acid 6% oint etc. Kindly get back to the dermatologist.
