Closed Head Injury With Concussion, Frequent Nosebleeds, Violent Headaches, EEG Abnormal, Cerebrospinal Fluid Is Leaking Into An Injured Disk In Neck.

Hi, I have a closed head injury with concussion . I have frequent nosebleeds, violent headaches, and a very soft spot on my head. I had an EEG which the doctor said was abnormal , but that s all he said. I also was told that cerebrospinal fluid is leaking into an injured disk in my neck. There are times when I get lost when I m driving and I have frequent memory lapses and concentration is reduced. I am very confused and scared that I m not getting the proper treatment.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

From your history, it seems that there is a CSF leakage from one of the fracture site in the skull and other symptoms are possibly due to some kind of damage in your brain which is not yet clear. If I were your family physician, I would send you to the ER of the nearest hospital having facility of a neuro surgical consultation and CT/MRI scan of head without much delay. This can delineate the pathology more clearly than the EEG, and prompt management could be done.
I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem.

Thanks for choosing health care magic for clearing doubts on your health problems. Good luck. Dr Shareef.
