Complex Mass In Thyroid. Large Cystic Area, Solid Lesions In Thyroid. Do I Need Biopsy?
2.3 cm complex mass in right thyroid , large cystic area with debris, thick superior wall with calcifications (about 4), some flow detected in solid area indenting into cystic area. No defined halo. Normal lab tests. Some smaller solid lesions in lt thyroid. I am a sonographer also .Do I need biopsy?, Probability of malignancy is low or high?

Firstly, the complex mass indicates presence of most probably a neoplastic lesion. It may be a benign or a malignant lesion. It has to be categorized first.
For this you have to be clinically examined and searched for any features of hypo or hyperthyroidism, presence of any lymph nodes in cervical region and others.
A most useful diagnostic tool is Fine needle aspiration cytology. As you are a sonographer, then you are accustomed with this test. Consult with your treating doctor for more appropriate approach with ultrasound guided FNAC. It will take out material more appropriately.
Wait for the report. It will provide you a provisional diagnosis. In the mean time do a thyroid profile test.
