Constant Sight Of Ring Or Circle When Blinking Or Looking At White Background. History Of Visual Migraines. Is This Serious?

Hi. For 3 weeks now, when I blink, and especially when I look at a white wall, or white background on computer screen I see something like a ring or circle, from my right eye. This only happens on the right eye. The color of the circle and how obvious it is depends on sourrounding light. Most obvious in daylight. I have had visual migraines in the past... I ll get these 3 to 4 times a year, and they last about 20 mins, and then go. I don t actually get a head ache with them. This is different though, because it is constant. No head ache. I have had a thorough eye check at my opticians, who found nothing - but advised that I see my GP if it continues, and if frequency of visual migraines increases.

Hello,welcome to HCM,
Thanks for your query.
1 a..the eye has a light sensitive areai.e retina which gives signals like flashes of light, ring/circle in front of eye when under some stress. this happens in cases like- high minus power glasses/rise in eye pressure/eye strain.
b.or due to disturbances in clarity of cornea or lens -corneal disease/infection/development of cataract in lens
3.you are most likely having eye strain(work related) since you had a thorough eye examination and was normal.
4.you can reduce the stress at work by -taking breaks of a few mins./blinking more often/looking at a distance(away from near work).
You can also use lubricating eye drops/artificial tear drops to sooth dryness in eyes (3-4 times a day)
5.rest is as per advice from your doctor about visual migraines .
Hope you fin some relief with the above .happy to help.
