Coughing Continuously. Taking Nebulizer And Cough Medicine. How To Stop? Pressure Points?

My wife has been coughing continuously for hours and this has been happening for months on end. She has an appointment at Mayo clinic for the 3rd time but has to wait until July to get in to see her doctor. Is there anything she can do to stop the coughing like pressure points or the like? She is already on a nebulizer and cough medicine doesn't touch it. Sucking on ice cubes helps in a minor way.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since she is already taking nebulizer i.e. she is an asthmatic patient.
Severe bouts of cough is due to allergy ( asthmatic attack).
In my opinion potent bronchodilator with antihistamine will provide some relief .
Ice , however give some relief , but it is just for time being.
Ice is not good for this type of cough, it may precipitate attack of cough.
Sip by sip , hot water may give you some relief.
2nd reason of severe bout of cough may be due to inhalation of some foreign particle in airways rout.
Consult a physician and get his opinion.
Good luck.
