Coughing With Phlegm. Pregnant. Vomited Rubber Like Substance. Have GERD. Any Need To Worry?

Hi, i have been coughing for almost 3 weeks now and i am 22weeks pregnant. I cough with phlegm and cough continuosly 10 times in one cough. Now, i just cough and vomitted and something came out. Rubberish-like, it looks like the head of a medicine dropper. By the way i also have GERD problems. Should i be bothered about what came out when i vomit? Is my baby safe?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

The vomiting may be related to your history of , recent coughing episodes, GERD or as a result of gastroenteritis which is inflammation of the intestinal tract usually by a virus.

With a history of repetitive coughing it is likely that this precipitated the vomiting and the rubbery material may be mucous ( you stated the cough was productive)

You may want to consider speaking to your doctor to find out if there are any medications that would be safe for you to use to help with the baby.

If the baby is still moving as before, there is no abdominal pain or pv bleeding then it is likely that he or she is ok. If you remain concerned you should consider visiting your doctor for an evaluation.

I hope this helps
