Could I Be Having A Gout Attack In My Left Foot Even Without Swelling Or Redness?

I have had gout in my feet for over 25 years. My father also had severe gout for much of his adult life. While mine has been successfully held in check for several years with daily doses of allopurinol, I have been experiencing a lot of pain in my left foot in the past few days. There is no swelling nor redness, but it feels just like a gout attack. Could it be?
