Could Ibruphen Be Taken Along With Azithromycin For Calming The Dry And Persistent Cough?

HI, my son - 9 years old - just took azythromicin - got it from doctor today. coughing very bad. Dry cough. Can he take Ibuprofen as well, before sleep for calm his dry, non-stop caugh? He was better during day, now he took the liquid med.,he`s coughing... - thank u

Hello and welcome to health care magic,

Avoid pain killers like ibuprofen if your son does not have pain. This is especially in the night. Also ibuprofen is known to express asthmatic problems which can actually worsen his cough.

You can give him some lozenges for his cough along with a mild cough syrup in consultation with your doctor and also give him warm water. The cough will definitely get better so do not worry.
