Could Mirena Coil Cause Shooting Pain In Pelvis And Stomach With Bloating?
HI, I have had a mirena coil for 1 year, untill now its been great it has stopped my heavy periods and have stopped me feeling really leathargic. But recently (about 1 month or 2) i have been getting a pain im my left side near the pelvis and sometimes shooting pains in my stomach aswell has bloating, would this be anything to do with my coil?
One of the possible side effect of the intrauterine device is pelvic infection. Which can present with symptoms like pain in the pelvis, bloating sensation and white discharge, etc. As you are having the pain and bloating for one to two months, better to get evaluated.
Please consult your gynecologist once, get examined and go for an ultrasound. This will help in confirming the position of the Mirena and to rule out any possible infection. And treatment can be planned accordingly. In case of pelvic infection, both partners should be treated simultaneously to prevent recurrence. If there are no signs of infection, antispasmodics and antacids may help you.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
