Could Sulfameth Trimethoprim Be Taken Along With Amoxicillin?

I am taking sulfameth trimethoprim substitute for bactrim DS for past month for treatment of acne and am now coming down with a bacterial infection. What will be the side effects if I take amoxicillin on top of this medicine to treat the bacterial infection? I do realize the acne medicine also treats and prevents bacterial infections but obviously not enough in this case and curious if there's any maj side effects to adding amoxicillin.
