Could Topamax Elevate Blood Sugar Level In A Diabetic?

I am a Diabetic. It is controled with medication. I'm on a lot of different meds Iwas wondering if topamax can make my blood sugar go to 170. It never goes higher then 120 I take mtaformin 250 mg. Twice a day. I can't believe you charge for me to get an answer. Id rather wait until tomorrow. That's disgusting that dts. Make money this way. Goodbye

I can understand your concern. Topomax is Topiramate and the drug is a mood stabiliser drug. The drug is a commonly used mood stabiliser especially in individuals who have weight gain as main issue. The drug results in loss of weight and this has been supported by studies also. The drug has positive effects on metabolism and in most cases the drug doesn't result in increased sugar levels. If the sugar levels are rising in your case even while on Metformin then please discuss this with your doctor and ask for increase in doses of Metformin if possible. The drug in fact lowers the levels of sugar.
