Could V Shaped Infection In Public Area With Soft, Red, Inflammed Follicles With Puss After Sexual Contact Be Folliculitis?
I had sex less than 2 days ago and was wearing a condom successfully. I did not stay fully aroused long enough to finish, but there was some grinding as the female was on top for about 5 minutes. This is how I contracted this Dermatitis as it is a V shaped infection of pubic area affecting only the hair follicles. About 30-35 follicles on each side of the V shaped area. The infected follicles are not deep and are soft and burst quite easily.
I immediately noticed the folliculitis and small infections the next morning, 15-16 hours after sexual contact. The follicles looked very red and inflamed and within 3-4 hours began forming the white-heads/ puss. I have never had any type of infection or infestation of any sort before. But I heard from a friend that I should apply Permetherin cream 5% immediately just in case. So I did this and washed it off 12-13 hours later which was late this morning.. I have searched for any type of lice without finding anything with nit comb. Just in case I washed and dried clothing on high heat cycle for 45 min. I think this is foliculitis, but not sure. What should be my next step.
The guidance you received from your friend seems to be misdirection whereas your judgement seems to be correct.
Permethrin is indicated only for two conditions: 1. Genital Scabies 2. Louse infection of pubic area. Both would not be confined to the V shaped area as they are caused by migrating insects. At the same time Hair Folliculitis can occur in the V shaped contact area due to bacteria. The treatment for Hair folliculitis, if it is mild application of antibiotic creams and washing with antiseptic soaps while bathing are enough. If it is deeper infection, you may need oral antibiotics for at least a period of a week may be necessary. Consult your Dermatologist and he/she will guide you better. Get Well soon. Dr S.murugan
