Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a binge eating problem but have not talked to a doctor because my doctor retired as I was finding the courage to talk about it. So I don t have a current doctor. My friend uses vyvanse and has great success with this drug stopping her binging. How do you go into a new doctors office and bring this subject up without them thinking your crazy for asking to be put on a medication?
I can understand your concern. First of all, it is not advisable to take any medicine without consulting a doctor although someone with similar symptoms got relief after its usage. You might not be the correct candidate for the same. Every patient has different medical history. Some are allergic to some medicines so considering all the factors we prescribe medicines to patients for better results.
Do not feel shy or think about this that the physician will assume you are crazy or anything. The doctors are there to help you and not to judge you. Feel free to talk about your issue to the doctor and follow his advice for better results. He will get all your history and depending on the requirement he will guide you with appropriate medicine for relief.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
