Could A Heavy Period With Nipples Pain Be Due To A Pregnancy?
I took Next Choice emergency contraceptive exactly 2 weeks ago after an "accident" happened. I took it within the hour of incident. 3-4 days later, I had a period. Heavier than normal. Definitely not light. That lasted almost a whole week. Still having some discharge from it (brown color). And also, nipples have started hurting a little the past few days. No other breast pain. Just nipples. I'm curious if this is happening because I took the Next Choice or if there is a chance I might be pregnant. Like I said, the period was immediately after those pills. After that happens, is it even likely that a pregnancy could occur?
Hi there, After going through your question, my opinion is that: 1) The chances of being pregnant even after taking Next Choice are very less, but there. 2) The bleeding that you had was mostly due to hormonal imbalance caused by the pill. 3) Nipple soreness could also be because of the same reason. 4) In my opinion, you are not pregnant. 5) However, to confirm, you can just take a urine pregnancy test 3 weeks after the sexual intercourse. If it is negative, no need to worry. You are not pregnant. 6) In case that test is positive, you can get a blood test called serum beta HCG or an ultrasonography to confirm pregnancy.
I hope this was helpful. Regards, Dr. Shikha Shah
