Could A Light And Long Period, Dark Blood Be Due To Menopause?

I am a woman of 50 I still have regular periods every 28 days. In the last year they have started lightly with dark blood almost black smudges then gone on to a normal but light flow in normal colour and end in 6 days with dark almost black blood again which often go on for an extra week or sometimes two weeks however very very light staining. Is there something wrong with me? Is it the menopause?
