Hello,

Your symptoms are indicative of infection (bacterial / viral). You are advised to get clinically examined by a GP. Get a sputum test, a swab test, blood tests, and imaging tests like an X-ray (chest), CT, and MRI done if required to detect pneumonia. bronchitis, asthma, COPD, TB, etc. It may be suggestive of a serious medical condition if the cough lasts for more than 3 weeks. Or if there is fever, chest pain, or difficulty breathing, and if phlegm is consistently bloody or worsening.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
