Could A Non Growing Ectopic Pregnancy Be Causing A Failed Abortion?

So I failed a medical abortion twice in a row. I did everything accordingly but all I got was a tiny bit of old blood that wasn t even liquid like . I have had an abortion before and it worked . But this time I didn t bleed or anything but I ve been having pain for over a week . My question is , could it be an ectopic pregnancy that s not growing ? I took methotrexate for the abortion , which I read is used for ectopic. I ve also been faint and nauseous. Please reply

Hello,
Firstly, I would like to know if you have self-medicated to induce the abortion, without a prior sonogram to locate the gestation sac and to know the age of the pregnancy. If this is so, you should immediately consult a specialist for further help. A trans-vaginal/pelvic sonogram will help to rule out an ectopic pregnancy and also to know what happened to your pregnancy. The amount of blood loss in very early pregnancies is very little and hence is mistaken for an incomplete abortion. If you induced an abortion with an ectopic pregnancy, it would be disastrous causing rupture and heavy bleeding and collapse. This does not seem to have happened. hope this helps.
