Could A Small Lump In Chest Indicate Just A Water Cyst?

My son is 22, very active..pitches for college baseball, golfs, plays volleyball and is a waiter. Since he started pitching 2 months ago he has complained of intermittent right sided pectoral pain. Yesterday, the Dr. Found, after much palpating, a small lump in his chest/armpit area. She thinks this is a water cyst but is sending him for an ultrasound just to be safe. I am a nervous wreck...how concerned should I be? Thank-you

Hello and welcome to HCM,
A lump in the armpit region can be due to lymph node enlargement or a cyst.
Your doctor is clinically in favor of a cyst, however, imaging and other investigations will rightly identify the lesion.
Ultrasound of the armpit will assess the size of the lesion and its extent.
If the lesion turns out to be a cyst on ultrasound also, it can be safely excised surgically and sent for histopathological examination.

Thanks and take care
