Could Accidental Feeding Of Stale Formula To An Infant Be A Matter Of Concern?

I accidentally fed my 8-month old baby a 4 oz bottle of formula that had been left in a diaper bag for 2 weeks, not knowing the bottle s history. I m well aware of the recommendations for formula, and thought this was a fresh bottle. What do we need to watch for as far as symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Once opened mostly can be used for one month, unless it's special one see expiry on label, if it's prepared only up to 2 hours unless refrigerator then 24 hours, see vomiting, diarrhea, lethargic, response, unusual cry etc. Pediatrician can be visited as harmful bacteria are present in milk, once general examination by pediatrician is recommended.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
