Could Bacteria In Uterus Cause Miscarriage?

I had a follow up appointment from my D and C with my Dr. she took a culture from my uterus because she wanted to see if I had a bacteria in there. She said bacteria else where has symtoms and is caught that way but inside the uterus no symtoms. What is this bacteria and could it cause me to miscarry
