Could Bleeding With Stomach Bloating Be A Sign Of Infection?

hi i have a friend that gave birth a couple of weeks ago. the gyne was not present for the birth and didnt go see her afterwards. she tore really badly and as the gyne was not there no one stitched her and she was told by the nurse that she must just keep her legs closed and it will heal... she is still bleeding from birth but her tumm is starting to bloat, could this be a sign of infection?

Hello,
With such an unattended childbirth without proper postnatal care, infection is the most important risk. If you find the tummy is getting bloated and there is a foul-smelling discharge, she could be infected. What she needs now is an immediate clinical evaluation by a specialist and see if she needs a repair of the perineal tear and some antibiotic. Douching is never advised; it does more harm and can lead to perforation of the uterus. Avoid using tampons; sanitary napkins should be used instead. Improvement of the general condition, helps healing quickly. Hope your query has been answered.
