Could Blocked Ears And Pressure In Head Be Due To Polyp In Nose?
I have had a ct scan brain and temporal bones, diagnosis polypoid mucosal thickening in the floor of both maxillary antra. this was 3 years ago..ear nose throat specialist said small poly on left side no sinus disease. Went back to GP with same symptoms of feeling of blocked ear and pressure left side of head. course antibiotics and Nasonex. diagnosis blocked eustasian tube. some relief however still over last 3 years unblock ears, Now 3 years later still putting up with this and have very tight feeling on side of neck (feels like very tight muscle) can you help please

Minimal sinus antral polyps should not be a concern. Commonly seen along with allergy. Pressure in the ears can be disturbing. Tympanometry and hearing tests have to be done for confirming the diagnosis. Conservatively can be treated with chewing gum and breathing exercises. Decongestants can also be tried.
But if the symptoms do not relieve with these measures, then a minor surgical procedure needs to be done where in pressure inside the ears can be relieved with a small incision over the drum and insertion of ventilation tubes.
