Could Blood In Bowels Be Due To Ulcers?

Yesterday I noticed a rather alarming about of blood in my stool. This is very abnormal for me, but it only lasted about one day and my bowel movements have normalized again. I m wondering if this could have been caused by some extremely spicy food (ghost pepper sausages) I had eaten the night prior to my issues, or if it could be some other issue like ulcers. thanks for any answers.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi..
Thanks for your query..
Painless fresh blood in the stool suggestive of haemorrhoids whereas if the blooding is painful it is due to fissure in ano. Yes, sometimes ulcer in stomach can also causes loss of blood in stool but the colour would be dark red. I suggest you to consult general surgeon to rule out these conditions.
Thank you
Take care
