Could Blood In My Urine, Frequent Urge To Urinate, And Mild Abdominal Pain Indicate An Infection?

I am getting some amount of blood in my urine, and from 4 days i have a urge to urinate frequently. On the time of urinating , at last i experience a little amount of abdominal pain. Is it a problem of infection ? Should i go to a gynaec or it is no need to worry? Should i wait to consult a gynaecologist?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yes, your symptoms are suggestive of a urine infection (UTI, E.coli). However, such symptoms can also occur due to bladder or kidney stones or STIs if sexually active. In men prostatitis presents with such symptoms. Get clinically examined by a urologist. Urine analysis and culture, ultrasound or CT scan and STI testing, if at risk.

Drink plenty of water; your treatment will depend on the diagnosis. You will be given conservative treatment or recommended surgery only if required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
