Could Blood In Stools Be Due To Haemorrhoids?

My daughter who is 37 and is in great physical shape just called to tell me she had some blood on her stool today after running 9 miles. She s training for a half marathon. This also happened a week ago when she ran 7 miles in training. She has a 7 month old baby. I thought it may be internal or external hemorhoids (sp?). I also told her to make an appointment with her doctor. She is very frightened but will make an appointment on Tuesday as tomorrow is a holiday here in Massachusetts. What do you think/

Hello,

Welcome to Health Care Magic.

Thanks for writing.

I am Dr.Saddiq ul Abidin. I have read you question completely, i understand your concern and will try to help you in best way possible.

Blood in stools may be because of many reason but most importand being the hemorroids. They cause painless bleeding per rectally. And if she is a diagnosed case of hemorroids then maximum chances are that this blood in stools is because of hemmoroids. And as she is a preparing for marathon race then that's the major factor which has induced this bleeding.
If it were a anal fissure or somethingelse then it may cause pain along with bleeding. So don't worry . Just get it checked by your surgeon and get this problem solved.
