My daughter who is 37 and is in great physical shape just called to tell me she had some blood on her stool today after running 9 miles. She s training for a half marathon. This also happened a week ago when she ran 7 miles in training. She has a 7 month old baby. I thought it may be internal or external hemorhoids (sp?). I also told her to make an appointment with her doctor. She is very frightened but will make an appointment on Tuesday as tomorrow is a holiday here in Massachusetts. What do you think/

Blood in stools may be because of many reason but most importand being the hemorroids. They cause painless bleeding per rectally. And if she is a diagnosed case of hemorroids then maximum chances are that this blood in stools is because of hemmoroids. And as she is a preparing for marathon race then that's the major factor which has induced this bleeding. If it were a anal fissure or somethingelse then it may cause pain along with bleeding. So don't worry . Just get it checked by your surgeon and get this problem solved.
