Could Blood In Urine Be Due To Bladder Infection?

hi, I have been under stress the past couple days. I urinated and noticed blood on the toilet paper. I recognize this as a bladder infection. I have had this before, the difference this time is I feel very nauseated, but cannot actually vomit. I have anti-biotics from the last time I had a bladder infection, and I have been taking them. But the nauseated feeling I have is worrying me. Should I bother going to the doctor? or just give the anti-biotics time to kick in?

Hi and Welcome To HCM.

Thank You for the query

The main concern in your history is the blood in the urine(hematuria). There are many more reasons to get blood in the urine.

First Of all, assuming you to be a woman,I want you to be sure, thats the blood from your urine and not from your vagina.

secondly,as you said you have recurrent urinary tract infections,I would recommend you,to go for a Urine Examination,as well Urine for culture and sensitivity, before you start off with any of the anti-biotics.this would give the cause of the infection, and the type of bacteria you being infected with.this would help in starting off with the specific anti-biotic for the treatment of your Urinary tract Infection.

Thirdly, I would ask you to go for a KUB ultrasound, which will rule out other causes of blood in urine, for eg. kidney stones,or bladder stones.

the nauseated feeling is seen in patients with Urinary tract infections, they have fatigye, with mild or high temperature, with stomach pain.If you have any of the above following, you should go for the tests i asked for,and the ultrasound.

Drink lots of water, drink cranberry juice, tender coconut water.
avoid intercourse till the symptoms subside, and you're course of treatment
ends.(sexual intercourse at times gives result to recurrent urinary tract infection in females).

Hope this helped. :)
Thank You
