Could Blood Sugar Cause Tiredness, Sleepiness And Excessive Thirst?
Hello, recently i ve been very tired and have been sleeping for hours on end more than usual. I ve alo been very thirsty, at school i ve been spending alot of time at the water fountain and even then i still can not quench my thirst. My blood sugar levels are at 82 i had them tested at home. Can those tests give out wrong answers should i see my doctor?
The glucometers are usually accurate but if you are unsure then you may have it rechecked with another glucometer at a home or at your doctor's office.
Diabetes is diagnosed with fasting blood sugars, 2 hour post meal blood sugars and HbA1c. A fasting greater than 126 and a 2 hour greater than 200 is diagnostic of diabetes.
If the repeat is normal then you may want to consider other causes for your thirst such as (1) heat exposure (2) diabetes insipidus (3)psychogenic
I hope this helps
