Could Breast Discharge Be Responsible For Infertility?

I noticed that every month as soon as my fertility window arrives,i have this very clear watery secretion on my right breast.it usually goes as soon as my period arrives.my husband and i have been tryin for a child since 2 years.could this be a factor to my inability to conceive?

Hi,

The possible causes of secretion from breasts are:

- Elevated serum prolactin levels.
During the ovulatory period due to fluctuations in the reproductive hormone levels, serum prolactin levels can be altered and can lead to watery discharge from breasts.
Thyroid hormonal abnormalities can also lead to serum prolactin fluctuations.
Rarely minor tumors of the pituitary can also lead to this situation.

- Continuous friction due to cloths can irritate the local tissue and can lead to water secretion from the breasts.

By clinical examination and estimating the serum prolactin levels the possible cause of the problem can be identified and treatment can be planned accordingly. So please consult your gynecologist once, get examined and take treatment accordingly.
