Could Brown Spots On The Skin Be A Genetic Disorder?

Hi, I never seen this genetic skin disorder. I notice my friend has a genetic skin condition. I would like to know what caused it. His skin is white but he has brown skin spots (scars look like) in his body as if he had once gotten burn from a fire. He says that growing up he started getting color spots after he turned 19 or so. His brother has it and I think he said his grandma too.

Hi thanks for asking question.
here according to history given by you, just rule out about neurofibromatosis.
In these disorder brown discolouration of skin seen which are darker then sourrounding skin called cafe au lait spot. This spot increases in size and number as individual grow in age.
This is to be rule out by doing genetic study like PCR or FISH for mutation detection.
If it comes negative for neurofibromatosis then no other specific genetic disease found to be.
I hope i have solve your query
