Hello,
Your daughter has history of being hit by a softball 2 weeks ago, now she is having swelling and pain with
bruise on the affected area. You are suggested to get her clinically examined by an orthopedic doctor as she is having discomfort. Continuing to walk with discomfort may lead to complications later. Get her X-ray and if required MRI / CT done to rule out any
fracture, tendon, ligament tear, internal injury, trauma. etc. She will be accordingly treated.
She can apply ointment Thrombophob, on the area affected. It will help to reduce inflammation and
blood clots below the skin. She can take
Acetaminophen or
Combiflam, one stat after food to ease pain and discomfort. She should keep her affected foot at rest, not strain unnecessarily. Keep the foot on a stool when seated or on a pillow when on bed. A crepe bandage can be applied as it will give relieve. Make sure that it is comfortable and not tight, it should not affect the blood circulation.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
