Could Bumpy Rash Near Anus Be Fungal Infection Or STD?

Hi, I am experiencing bumpy rash on my buttocks near the butt crack area. It is very irritating and painful. It is not red, and when I touch it, it appears dry and rough like it would peel off my skin. I have been experiencing it since past few days but it has increased significantly since last 1 week. I had protected sex with a sex worker last week. I think it is a fungal infection, but am worried that it may be an STD. What is your opinion.

Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

This seems like a fungal infection/Tinea cruris to me; dry, scaly patches on buttocks.
Pain is probably secondary to intense itching and scratching.
A KOH scraping made from small amount of scale scraped from the patches would reveal fungal elements, in case of Tinea.
I suggest you to use an OTC topical antifungal e.g clotrimazole 1 % cream, twice daily.
An OTC oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
I also suggest an Oral antifungal e.g fluconazole, for faster relief and for extensive involvement.
Oral antifungals are prescription drugs and I suggest you to visit a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis as well as appropriate prescription.

Regards
