Could Cannabis Use For 20 Years Be Detected When I Have High Sperm Count And Didn’t Disclose It During Private IVF?

I have been told that my sperm count is very higher than average despite smoking cannabis for 20 years. Myself and my wife are paying privately for ivf and I use to Treat anxiety although have not disclosed. Is this likely to be detected and refused ?

Hello,

If you’re using cannabis for anxiety, get clinically examined by a GP. Your treating doctor will consider prescribing alternative medication or suggest therapy that won’t affect fertility. It depends on the clinic whether they'll refuse or not. Some clinics and researchers link cannabis to lower embryo implantation rates, but results are not very convincing.

In case the clinic believes cannabis affects sperm quality, embryo development, or pregnancy success, they might advise reducing or quitting cannabis use. Clinics may not routinely test for cannabis but you are advised not to play dishonest. Tell them the truth. You will be helped.
