Could Chemotherapy For Lymphoma Cancer Be The Cause For False Positive Results Of HIV?

Hey, I recently went and had an HIV test with my partner the results came back positive. I am not sexually active at all. So I don t know how this happened. I am in remission of cancer and had to do 6 months of chemotherapy I had lymphoma B-cell the cancer affected my immune system and blood cells. Would that have any effect on the result of my test. That s all I can think of.

Hello,

I don't think that having lymphoma cancer can show positive HIV results. I think you need to repeat the test in order to be sure about it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
