Could Chest Congestion Be Allergy Related?

I have chest congestion, I have found that taking allegra helps but only keeps my lungs clear for about 12 hours and I believe the allegra side effects... very tired... this chest congestion has happened many times in the past. I am active have no shortness of breath or major medical issues...I am 64 and since retiring 14 years ago walked nearly 3 miles everyday...do you think this could be allergy related issue

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that as you get relief after taking Allegra this might be due to allergic bronchitis.
Instead of Allegra take Montac LC daily for long time.
This medicine is good respiratory tract antihistamine.
Ok and take care.
