Could Controlling The Over Active Bladder Cause Swelling In Legs And Foot?

I have over-active bladder and have learned to sit and push down on my urinary system while holding my urine in until the urge subsides so I can make it to the bathroom. After many years of doing this. I now have swollen legs and feet. Could there be a connection? Kidneys? I take vesicare and myrbetric. My doc wants a blood test in a week. Any suggestions? I m 82.

Hi,

This is unlikely related. Edema of legs can be from many causes like varicose veins, low protein or hemoglobin level or kidney dysfunction. Your doctor will guide in evaluation and treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
