Could Cracking Sound Followed By Swelling In Ankle Indicate Ligament Damage?

just after playing a match my left studs got stuck in the ground and i got hit into the right side which i then severely rolled over on my left ankle and i heard a loud crack/crunch sound, i limped off the pitch and had small swelling but now im home the swelling as increased sizeably and now im getting bad pains in my ankle, im curious if its broke or badly sprained or even ligament damage? i only want to go to the doctors if its broke or ligament damage

I really appreciate your concern, if this is the musculoskeletal injury then this need to be investigated and need to have orthopedic opinion, some time this could be fracture more than ligament injury, hope this information helps, take care.
