Could Dentures Be The Cause For Bruising On Face?

I had several teeth removed last Friday (4 days ago) and immediate dentures inserted. My problem is that the lower dentures, on my right side, appear to make my tongue and inner jaw really hurt. The dentures seem to be pushing on something underneath the tongue. No pain when I remove the denture, but the side of my face nearest to the pain is now bruised. Could I have damaged the tongue nerves in any way?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that pain on the inner jaw while placement of the dentures seems to be most probably due to excess height of the denture flanges that accommodate over the soft tissues and when they are more extended than what is required, it causes injury to the soft tissues leading to pain and soreness..
In this case you should consult your treating dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigation of the denture can be done..
Trimming of the excess length of flanges will resolve the problem..
As of now you can apply numbing gel containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..

Bruising of the side of the face is not appearing due to denture rather it can be due to inflammation caused secondary to extraction of multiple teeth and will resolve gradually as the healing will progress..
You can do cool compresses over it..
In case if it worsen consult your dentist and get a clinical evaluation done..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
