Could Difficulty While Swallowing Food Be Due To Inflammation Of Oesophagus?

I ate a hot piece of potato yesterday. It didn t burn my mouth but it burned in my chest so much so that I almost fell to the floor in pain. I recovered after a few minutes and was fine yesterday for dinner but today my chest hurts, especially when I swallow. Could I have burned my esophagus?
