Could Discomfort In The Throat And Swelling Be Associated With Infection?

Hi I have a some discomfort in my throat for the past week. My lymph nodes in my throat are swollen. My throat is red as well. I have been extremely tired this week. I would sleep about eight hours but I keep feeling like I only slept two hours. I noticed last Friday, that I had some small bumps under my chin and I think they are my lymph nodes are inflamed as well. Lastly, I noticed that I have two small bumps, one on top and one on the bottom on my left tonsil. My brother was just diagnosed with having a staph infection. My allergist is telling me it is related to my allergies and my mom is considered I have an infection in my throat. Basically, my question is should I be making an appointment with my regular doctor or my allergist?

Hi,

I do agree with your mom, you seem to be having an upper respiratory tract infection. I would suggest you consult your family physician for further evaluation and management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
