Could Eosinophilic Esophagitis Affect B12 And Iron Levels When My Symptoms Persist But My Serum B12 Is High?
Hi Dr. Puri, I have experienced extreme fatigue and declining cognitive function over the past 8 years or so. My doctors do not believe it may be caused by long-term B12 deficiency and long-term iron deficiency without anemia though my symptoms all match both conditions and pernicious anemia. They want me to discount B12 injections and that iron supplementation is unnecessary. I saw your comment on B12 serum being high is not uncommon with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. What does that mean for my treatment. Should I discontinue B12 injections because I am not deficient or are the B12 serum results not an accurate reflection of my b12 status? Does EOE impact iron processing? Or possibly another issue. I just don’t feel confident my doctors understand the connection between B12 and eosinophils. ? What do you think?
